Year 3 and 4

In the primary years of Le Regent College we aim to provide happy and vibrant classes where each child is given the space and freedom to learn. We understand that a child’s first experience of school is a vital step in their learning journey, developing knowledge, skills and self-confidence which lay the foundations for their lives. We aim to provide a broad and exciting curriculum which will stimulate young minds and ignite a love of learning.

The children in Years 3 and 4 are encouraged to develop their independent learning skills and build on the knowledge they have. English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, ICT, Drama, Art, PSHE, Phonics and Library are taught by the class teacher. French, Mandarin, Music, Physical Education and Sport are supported by specialist teachers.

In Years 3 & 4 the creative curriculum is followed in Humanities, the creative arts, and ICT. The Curriculum is mapped creatively from the English National Curriculum. Where possible all teaching is linked to the Year Group topic and immerses children fully into their learning.

All children with a competent degree of English have a daily English lesson where they follow the English National Curriculum. ESL children follow the Cambridge YLE program until such time that they are able to join the mainstream English lessons.
