Each academic year Le Regent chooses a small number of charities from nominations by the staff and students on which to concentrate our fundraising efforts. While we would like to help as many organisations as possible, choosing a smaller number means the elected charities can each benefit substantially from a larger donation. It also enables the College to build up a relationship with each of the charities, giving students the opportunity to find out more about them and their work.
In 2016 Le Régent College Junior School was pleased to support the UNICEF ‘cycling for children’ event in Crans-Montana. The event was aimed at raising awareness and money for children suffering because of malnutrition and polluted water around the globe.
The school aims to build community links within The Haut Plateau and the Valley region. With ‘Compassion’ and ‘Service’ at the heart of the school’s ethos we want students to aspire to make the world a better place and that starts by supporting people in the local community. Worthy local causes will benefit a great deal from this voluntary work, but the projects also provide our students with a broader perspective on life at a time when they are developing their global citizenship. All students learn to value, serve and enrich their community, a philosophy that will stay with them forever.
