The library is at the heart of the school and reflects our commitment to academia. The rooms are bright and spacious, providing a special atmosphere conducive to independent learning and academic excellence.
There are two separate libraries in the school, each serving the needs of the different ages of the students using them. The Libraries are a blend of tradition and innovation. Both libraries benefit from the ‘state of the art’ ICT infrastructure and students can connect electronic devices to the WiFi network, giving them access to the latest e-resources. With an up-to-date stock of journals and magazines, it fosters a culture in which students are encouraged to read widely, research and study.
The Junior School library is used by all for reading and class research during academic lessons. We want to inspire all Junior School pupils to have a love of reading. It fosters their creativity and imagination and supports academic progress. In the Junior School we celebrate many worldwide literature events such as World Book Day (2nd March 2017). The Library is also used for Prep (Homework). In the evenings it is an oasis of calm where boarders can take time out from the busy activity programme and enjoy a good book!
`There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island’ (Walt Disney)
‘Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or a duty. It should be offered as a gift’ (Kate Di Camillo).
