Entrance Procedures

  • Admission Procedure

Your child will be required to attend a personal interview with the Headmaster and the Director of Admissions. This can either take place during the initial visit (if you are only able to come once to the school) or we can arrange a follow-up meeting. On the same day as the official interview, we will conduct our  entrance tests for children entering Year 3 and above (younger children will not normally be tested). The tests will be age-appropriate and will usually consist of an English paper, a Mathematics paper and a test for Non-Verbal reasoning. Obviously as students move up through the school the tests will have greater significance and students will not be accepted to join Year 10 for the IGCSE’s or Year 12*, unless they have an adequate academic level (or potential) to handle these programmes.

To help you plan your day, we suggest that you allow around 1 ½ - 2 hours for the interviews and tour of the school plus a further 1 ½ - 3 hours for the tests (depending on the age of your child). Please ask the Admissions Office for further advice on the tests.

In order to be admitted to Le Régent Crans-Montana College we shall require school reports and transcripts from your child’s previous school as well as a confidential character reference from the Headmaster or the form teacher. Ideally we would wish to interview both parents and students at the school but we are well aware it will not always be possible; a Skype interview can be arranged in such a situation.  Interviews are an essential part of the process to ensure the candidate has the right profile for our school.

You need to keep in mind that students from most non-European countries will require a student visa before they can join the school and that the time to obtain it can be quite lengthy (8-12 weeks).  Applications from students who do not have European passports should therefore be received by April/May at the latest.

It will be a pleasure to get to know you and your children and we look forward to seeing you in Crans-Montana.

*The College is applying for candidacy to become an IB world school authorized to offer the Diploma Programme from September 2018
